About the Company
A well-funded, English-operating company building next-generation trading infrastructure at the intersection of traditional and decentralised finance. We’re developing a decentralised exchange with a fully on-chain order book, built on a purpose-designed execution and consensus layer tuned for low-latency, high-throughput trading.
The aim is a trustless venue that performs like a conventional matching engine while keeping execution transparent and as close to the chain as possible, capable of institutional volumes without shutting out retail participants.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Rust Engineer with real depth in system architecture and execution engines. You’ll design and build the CLOB execution layer: the order book, the matching engine, and the blockchain client logic underneath them.
This is a deeply technical role with end-to-end ownership of critical components, from initial architecture through to optimisation. You’ll work mainly with a remote team of experienced engineers, with occasional onsite offsites for onboarding and closer collaboration.
Joining this early means genuine influence over foundational technical decisions, alongside strong career growth and competitive compensation.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement the on-chain order book and matching engine in Rust.
- Design and extend exchange-specific logic: order execution, risk checks, account and state management.
- Build protocol-level components, including state transition logic, consensus, validator interaction, and transaction processing pipelines.
- Integrate oracles, bridges, and external data providers, with correctness and resilience under adversarial conditions.
- Optimise for low-latency execution, concurrency, and gas efficiency.
- Run benchmarking and stress testing to find and fix performance and throughput bottlenecks.
- Maintain a thorough suite of unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Requirements
- 5+ years of systems programming experience, including 3+ years in Rust.
- A proven track record building trading platforms, execution engines, or exchanges, whether decentralised or centralised.
- Contributions to Rust-based L1 protocol projects (Solana, Cosmos SDK, Substrate, or similar).
- Deep understanding of distributed computing: consensus algorithms, P2P networking, and high-performance data structures.
- Strong knowledge of decentralised trading models, including on-chain order books, AMMs, and hybrid architectures.
- Ability to design and deliver complex, production-grade systems independently.
Big Bonus
- Background in competitive programming or algorithmic problem solving.
- Expertise in low-latency design, concurrency, and performance optimisation.
